About

Trip description

This opportunity for Level 6 Marketing students to travel to New York in February-March 2023 links to the module content for ‘Brand Portfolio and Campaign Planning’. The purpose of this trip is to study how branding and marketing communications varies within a different cultural context, in a city renowned for marketing and branding opportunities.

Students will get the opportunity to engage with brands such as Mars, visit GPJ experiential marketing agency where they will engage with staff and gain some insights on experiential marketing campaigns (a growing trend in marketing). To apply some of the concepts leant during their studies in a fun and engaging way, students will visit Times Square, home to some of the most expensive out-of-home (OOH) advertising space in the world and major advertising communications. It is a commercial intersection, tourist destination and one of the most iconic neighbourhoods of New York City known for its numerous billboards and advertisements.

During these four visits students will engage with a DMU (marketing freelance) alumni with over 10 years’ experience of the city and its marketing scene to help bring theory to life through reflection on their visits to the different planned activities. This will help students in making connections between theory and practice and encourage them to start exploring their future careers in the broad world of the marketing discipline.

The estimated total cost for flights and accommodation for this trip to New York is £950-1000. Students will be expected to pay the remaining amount after the £400 DMU Global bursary is deducted from the total.
