About

Trip description

Through the DMU Works careers and employability service, we aim to help students become what employers need – a work-ready graduate with professional experience. As part of this offer, students are able to participate on DMU Works overseas experiences in cooperation with DMU Global.

This employability trip in summer 2023 offered by DMU works is focused on the digital and tech sector in Ontario, Canada. As part of the 5-day trip, students will visit a number of tech companies based in Toronto for employability and sector insight workshops/sessions. The result will be increased knowledge of a sector of interest, increased confidence in employability skills and a unique opportunity to network and grow professional contacts.

The purpose of the trip is to highlight the opportunities available to students in the digital and technology sector. Students will expand their knowledge of the tech sector, engage in employability sessions, and have a unique opportunity to grow their professional networks.

As part of the trip the group will visit a variety of high-profile tech companies in the Toronto area such as LinkedIn (more host companies to be announced soon), and get valuable insight into the sector and its future. Students will gain an understanding of both technical and non-technical careers routes available to them and what it takes to be successful in the recruitment process.

The estimated total cost for flights and accommodation for this trip to Toronto is £950-1000. Students will be expected to pay the remaining amount after the £400 DMU Global bursary is deducted from the total.
