Costs
£600-800: (excluding DMU Global bursary). Students will also be required to pay for: Admin fee to Hong Kong PolyU, UK and in-country transfers, visits, food and drink, visa (if applicable). Accommodation and programme fees are waived as part of the exchange relationship between Hong Kong PolyU and DMU.

Eligibility
All DMU students are eligible to participate in this opportunity. Those with a demonstrable interest in subjects offered at the International Summer School, as well as the culture and language of Hong Kong will be prioritised. The maximum number of places on this opportunity is 4.
Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying. Once accepted by DMU Global, successful candidates will be required to apply directly to Hong Kong PolyU.
About
Hong Kong PolyU invites students to gain an international exchange experience with students from all over the world, through participating in their International Summer School (ISS). This 4-week Summer School offers a range of intellectually stimulating subjects with all classes being conducted in English. Alongside the academic delivery, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in new cultural with a range of enhancement activities and a comprehensive Buddy Programme.
Strategically located in Hung Hom, the heart of Hong Kong, Hong Kong PolyU is the largest publicly-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong in terms of student population. With the mission to nurture graduates to be critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders, they offer a wide range of academic programmes to meet the industrial, commercial and community needs of the city and the region.

Programmes of study
ISS offers a diversified range of subjects from three thematic learning tracks which are: Chinese Language, Culture and Society; Design, Innovation and Technology; and Business, Entrepreneurship and Global Leadership. Participants can take up to two subjects – an overview of subjects offered and be found here.
Cultural Activities
ISS offer a range of enrichment activities for students, with all opportunities being conducted in English. The 2023 activity schedule will be confirmed in April/May and previous cultural events have included Chinese tea brewing, Chinese calligraphy, martial arts, cooking workshops and bamboo painting.
Hong Kong itself is a unique destination, one of Asia Pacific’s leading design and innovation centres, an international financial centre, where Eastern and Western cultures meet. The city has fantastic transport links, scenic hiking trails, an energetic arts community and English is one of the official spoken languages.
Cultural highlights include the highest point of Hong Kong Island, Victoria Peak, which can be reached via the cable-hauled funicular Peak Tram. Po Lin is a huge Buddhist monastery and temple complex, home to the ‘Big Buddha’ built in 1924, which can be viewed by taking the 5.7km journey in the Ngong Ping cable car. Temple Street Night Market covers multiple city blocks in Kowloon, where crowds descend for clothes, street food, trinkets and teaware.
COVID-19 information
Fully vaccinated travellers are permitted to enter Hong Kong. Hong Kong will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record and proof of COVID-19 vaccination issued in the Crown Dependencies. Your last vaccine dose must have been administered at least 14 days prior to travel.
