Eligibility

All DMU students are eligible to participate in this opportunity, however, students will need to clearly articulate their interest in the courses/modules they are wanting to study. DMU Global will consider applicants’ academic performance as part of the selection process. The maximum number of places on this opportunity is 10.

 

Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying. Once accepted by DMU Global, successful candidates will be required to apply directly to UDC.

About

Universidade da Coruña’s International Summer School was set up in 2014 and has offered a broad selection of intensive courses taught in English by international faculty on a wide array of topics ranging from law and business to science and technology. Dozens of teachers and hundreds of students from 70 different countries have participated and enjoyed this experience in A Coruña. 

Taught in English, students can spend 10 days in Spain studying a range of academic topics including:

  • Creative Leadership and Intercultural Communication
  • Current Issues in Human Rights
  • Databases and Data Analytics
  • Fashion Sketchbook
  • Market Research and Consumer Behaviour
  • Strategic Tourism Marketing
  • Materials Science
  • A Self-Sufficient Habitat of the Future – A Design Workshop
  • Creative Thinking & Skill Development in Architectural Design/Project Management in Architecture

*Students can also choose to enrol on Spanish language courses (15 hours of study) as part of the summer programme which will cost an extra £85/100€. Further information can be found here.


Practical information

Students that participate on this summer school will be able to choose from a range of accommodation options with different meal plans. The estimated cost per night for accommodation is between £20-£35 per night (£300 in total). The programme fee (£350/400€) paid to UDC includes the social programme and all tuition and classes.

In addition to the programme fee and accommodation, students will be required to pay for and arrange travel to A Coruña (approx. £150). 

After you are offered a place by DMU Global, you will be required to submit an application directly to UDC. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. In addition to being able to secure a place in your preferred course, there is an early-bird price that also encourages you to apply early. The final deadline to apply to UDC will be 31 May 2023.


Cultural activities

The International Summer School (ISS) has an organised social programme for all students which can be found here. Activities include trips to the nearby towns of Ferrol and Finisterre, a tapas night, various museum visits.

COVID-19 information

Travel to Spain is permitted according to the travel rules for England as listed on UK Government website. Students are expected to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 vaccine prior to travel. Further guidance can be found on the FCDO webpage for the Spain.
