You could be heading off to Beijing this summer with DMU’s Confucius Institute (CI) to experience language and life in China, helping you to develop skills which global employers are looking for, including cultural awareness.
This exciting opportunity will support up to 20 students on a two-week summer school to the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), including Mandarin classes and cultural trips to sights such as the Great Wall of China, the Summer Palace and the 798 art district. Through participating in language and culture courses run by USTB students will gain a comparative insight into the Chinese culture. This is a great opportunity to enhance your CV while exploring a fascinating part of the world.
USTB was founded in 1952 and is one of China’s most prestigious universities, valuing international exchange and supporting more than 4,200 students from 125 countries. The summer school therefore provides the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into Chinese culture, while at the same time attending a top university where you will be able to meet people from all over the world.
Due to DMU’s existing partnership with USTB, tuition fee costs and accommodation costs will be waived for accepted students.
Participants will have some free time to explore Beijing independently. Located in northern China, the capital city has one of the largest populations in the world, with a bustling atmosphere and rapid rate of development. Hidden in its hutongs, narrow alleys typical of this part of China, as well as in its public gardens and temples, lies a fascinating history for you to discover. From the Great Wall of China to the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and local teahouses, there is plenty for you to experience in this magical city.
Please note that travel to China is still heavily restricted for travellers from the United Kingdom. Either UK arrivals are not permitted entry or a lengthy quarantine. As a result, this opportunity will only take place if the entry requirements for this destination become less restrictive.
Students are therefore advised that any application for such opportunities is subject to these changes, and you should avoid making any financial commitments until DMU Global has given instructions to do so.
All students that are offered a place on this DMU Global opportunity will receive further COVID-19 advice and guidance by email and in pre-departure briefing sessions.
