Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is a student-centered university that values academic excellence, supports growth and celebrates diversity. Located in Northwest Indiana, near Chicago, PNW fosters a vibrant academic community through high quality and engaging undergraduate and graduate education. It offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to approximately 11,000 students.
The university has two campuses, the main residential campus in Hammond is located 25 miles from downtown Chicago, and the smaller Westville campus. The Hammond campus includes 17 academic and recreational buildings, a fitness center, student housing facilities and is the home of Purdue Northwest baseball, softball, soccer and tennis.
Programmes of study
PNW offers a range of programmes of study across six schools, which include Business, Engineering and Sciences, Humanities and Technology. Full details of the majors on offer can be found on the PNW website. Students studying Nursing and Midwifery are not eligible to apply, as PNW are unable to accept exchange students on their programmes.
Exchange students will be required to follow a full programme of study for the academic year based at PNW.

The Office of Student Life at PNW creates diverse extra-curricular experiences that fit the needs of students via social and civic engagement opportunities. The programming initiatives build a student’s repertoire of personal and professional skills, assists with retention and student success efforts supported by the University.
PSUB is Purdue’s Student Programming Board, provides a variety of programs and services that enrich and entertain. Involvement with PSUB is an extension of your college education outside of the classroom and is a great way to get hands-on experience and develop new skills. They have nearly 100 events every year ranging from Poetry Slams to Battle of the Bands.
