Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) – Barcelona, Spain

UIC Barcelona is a private university located in Barcelona, Spain that was founded in 1997. There are approximately 8,000 students from 99 different countries enrolled on courses at the university, studying 16 different degree programmes. UIC Barcelona offers students a multicultural environment and vast offer of courses in English, as well as in Spanish and Catalan.

UIC takes a unique approach in that it values connections with society and business. Their teaching is practical in nature, with many academics also being active professionals in their fields. DMU’s exchange agreement with UIC Barcelona allows students enrolled on the following programmes to study abroad:

  • Health & Life Sciences – Education Studies and Education Studies with Spanish

Modules will be available in English and further information about the study options can be found here. Exchange students will be required to follow a full programme of study for the academic year based at UIC.


Travel & accommodation

  • Travel – the nearest major airport to UIC Barcelona is Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport. It is recommended to take a taxi or public transportation to your accommodation.

Visas & insurance

  • Visas – To take part in this exchange you are responsible for ensuring that you meet Spanish immigration requirements.
  • Insurance – All students are recommended to purchase travel insurance for the duration of their time in Europe to cover personal possessions and healthcare. UK and EU nationals can apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) which is time-limited to the length of the exchange period.
