Founded in 1348, Charles University is one of the oldest universities in the world. Today it is the largest and most renowned in the Czech Republic and is known as a modern, dynamic, cosmopolitan and prestigious institution of higher education. Through its excellence in teaching in a range of subjects, as well as its expertise in research and wide international links, the university is consistently ranked amongst the best in Europe and the world.
Primarily located and based in the picturesque Old Town of Prague, the university is home to over 50,000 students across 17 faculties.

Modules will be available in English and further information about the study options can be found (using language and faculty filters) through the Charles University database. Exchange students will be required to follow a full programme of study for the academic year based at Charles University.

Charles University offers a wide range of opportunities for students to pursue their pastimes and hobbies. Charles University has plenty of Societies to join and in addition they also host many Cultural Exhibitions during the academic year. For those interested, sport can be a feature of university life, with many students enjoying from a wide range of sporting opportunities such as Battle on Ice, Rector’s Sports Day and so on. Finally, all exchange students at Charles University are invited to volunteer in the local community while studying at Charles University.
