£200: This is your estimated cost for travel and accommodation after deducting the £200 DMU Global bursary. It also includes a £3 carbon levy to help offset emissions from your flight.

Eligibility
All undergraduate students from the School of Engineering and Sustainable Development are eligible to participate on this opportunity. Although the trip is predominantly designed for undergraduates, postgraduate students may apply but in the case of the trip being oversubscribed to, priority will be given to undergraduate applicants. There is a maximum of 20 places available, with a minimum of 15 participants required for this opportunity to take place. Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying.

Trip description
This trip aims to enhance student employability and raise awareness of work experience, internship and placement opportunities in the Engineering sector, as well as explore various job roles and careers Engineering students can enter after graduation. As part of the trip, there will be the following:
There will also be a range of optional/recommended activities for students including a visit to Airbus Factory in Blagnac (€15), to discover the latest generation of Airbus aircraft. This will include a presentation of the on the history of Toulouse aviation, a tour of the 700 Airbus infrastructure and a visit to the A350XWB assembly line. Furthermore, a trip to the Cite L’Espace (€22.5)will provide an opportunity to explore the life of an astronaut and view real space craft such as the Mir Space station.
Finally, explore over 200 interactive machines, watch live demonstrations of complex mechanical systems, and even ride atop the giant Minotaur, offering an inspiring look at real-world mechanical design and kinetic art in action at Halle de la Machine (€9).
Learning objectives
Participating in a DMU Global opportunity can help you develop a range of skills and knowledge that enhance your studies. Through participation in this trip to France we expect that you will enhance your knowledge of work experience opportunities, gain insight into STEM/Engineering career journeys and different job roles. In addition, we expect that students will develop communication, networking and professional conduct, skills and build confidence and improve motivation to pursue further DMU Careers activities.
Pre-trip, students will be encouraged to attend the workshops offered by the TAC Placements Team in the Summer and in Term 1 to help them build their CV, learn about cover letter writing and to create a well-built LinkedIn Profile, which they can use to connect with people from the industry they will meet on the trip.
Post-trip, students will be required to attend a de-brief where they will be asked to sum up their experiences, highlighting what they learned and how this will impact their placement/job searching going forward. The Team will also offer 1:1 appointments to advise students and support with their placement searching. Students will also have the opportunity to join the TAC Placement Mentoring Scheme.
Cultural activities
During the trip there will be the opportunity to visit some of the culture highlights that Toulouse has to offer! Runway of Giants is a unique cultural venue which highlights and publicises aeronautical adventure and is dedicated to the pioneers of aviation.
Other cultural highlights include the Basilica of Saint-Sernin which is one of the largest churches of it’s kind in Europe, UNESCO World Heritage site the Canal du Midi which links Toulouse and the Mediterranean Sea, and Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Toulouse which crosses the banks of the river Garonne.
Visa information
Due to various external factors and an unprecedented demand for international travel, there are significant delays in visa processing, as well as very limited availability of application appointment slots for some countries and embassies.
We recommend that you take all appropriate steps to secure a visa as soon as practically possible, and to notify DMU Global if you face any issues. It is your responsibility to meet the entry requirements of the country you are travelling to.
