About

Trip description

The primary purpose of the trip is to enhance academic performance by providing a deeper understanding of work culture and social phenomena, fostering the development of international networks, and equipping students with valuable professional skills.

Students will have the opportunity to visit Niels Brock, DMU’s partner institution in Denmark, where they will experience a different higher education teaching and learning environment. In addition, they will visit two local businesses to gain first-hand insight into business operations, organisational performance and control mechanisms. These experiences will enable students to develop a contextual understanding of business management by connecting academic theory with professional practice.

The visit is designed to enhance graduate outcomes and strengthen student employability by exposing students to international business environments and the practical application of their studies. It will foster purposeful partnerships through collaboration with our international partner institution and support lifelong learning by encouraging critical reflection and the application of knowledge across different cultural and organisational contexts. Students will also be empowered to lead sessions and project activities, helping to develop their confidence, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

Furthermore, the visit will promote diversity, equity, and inclusion by enabling students to engage with different cultures, perspectives, and ways of working. Overall, the experience will be enriched through meaningful interactions with people, organisations and ideas, broadening the global outlook and preparing them for success in an increasingly interconnected world.

Learning objectives

Participating in a DMU Global opportunity can help you develop a range of employability skills and competencies that enhance your studies. The objectives of this trip to Copenhagen are:

  • Provide a deeper understanding of work culture and social phenomena,
  • Help students understand the sustainability in practice
  • Foster the development of international networks,
  • Support students with professional skills as well as personal development.

To enhance the learning experience, pre-departure and post-visit activities will be organised. These activities will prepare students to explore the area, learn the business operation model and reflect on their experience. The activities are aligned with the development of key skills and attributes such as cultural intelligence, global business awareness, communication, and self-awareness.

Before the departure, students will be asked to participate in structured briefing sessions, which will focus on business operations in Copenhagen and students’ workplace readiness. The students will also set individual goals to be achieved from the visit. This task will encourage them to set tasks and focus on the intention to visit.

On return, students will be asked to participate in a reflection session to assess their experiences critically. Through guided activities, students are expected to reflect on the skills they learned through the visit.
