About

In cooperation with our partner, Pagoda Projects, DMU Global will be offering twenty online events throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. All events are employability focused and aim to give students an insight into topics related to the international working world.

This webinar will address the topic of diversity in the workplace. Speakers will share their experience, best practices, and their knowledge about how companies approach diversity and inclusion.

Speakers:

For this session, we welcome Angela Gu, assistant director at Flex

Angela, the first visually impaired employee of Flex. After six months of employment, Angela was promoted to assistant director and responsible for barrier-free projects with her outstanding performance. “we are just working differently.” she said.

Angela has been implementing monthly disability equality training (DET) since July 2019, inviting people with disabilities and non-disabled people to participate.

Helping people with disabilities build confidence and skills, and letting them know that people with disabilities have equal rights to education and employment.

Róisín Connolly, Innovation Senior Manager at Accenture

Róisín Connolly is an Innovation Senior Manager within Accenture’s Innovation & Design Practice. She lead Innovation for Comms, Media and High Tech clients across the UK. Róisín’s focus areas are: Co-developing new digital product and services solutions with clients; Leading efforts to scale transformative digital innovations; Culture, leadership change and mindset.

Róisín is an experienced facilitator of C-suites and Boards and have worked across a whole range of industries from telco, banking, FMCG, oil & gas, government and retail.

She is very focused on improving diversity within the tech industry and lead a number of gender diversity and female empowerment initiatives, as well as raising awareness through public speaking events. Róisín was selected as Women in Tech Top 50 in 2017 – the awards are focused on championing female tech talent.
