In this section, you’ll explore the key steps of your student exchange journey, from nomination and application to preparing for life abroad, and arrival.
Please note: If you’ve been offered a place on ISEP, while the timeline will be similar, we will meet separately to discuss the next steps.

Confirm place
Accept the place you have been offered by submitting additional details, signing the student agreement and paying the deposit.

Nomination
DMU informs partner university that you will be studying there.
March – May
Pre-departure sessions
Attend the mandatory pre-departure sessions that will guide you through the essential steps and equip you for your upcoming experience.

Host university application
Host university International Coordinator will get in touch with you and send you the application process to register with the host university. This needs to be completed by the given deadline.

Acceptance letter
Once your documents have been accepted, the host university will provide you with an acceptance letter.

Student finance
Apply for Student Finance for the next academic year.
April – July
Visa
Apply for a visa or study permit to be able to study at the host destination.
June – July
Accommodation and flights
Arrange your housing and book your flights. Important to not book your flights before you get a visa.
August – September
Ready to depart
Pack and get ready for travel. Make sure you have all your documentation with you.
September – October
Arrival
Arrive by the date recommended by your host university.
Participate in orientation activities and events to get to know people.
Complete paperwork required to get your Turing Scheme funding.
Receive deposit refund.
September onwards
