About
Trip description
This trip is an opportunity to undertake a critical exploration of an area of cultural policy that interests the students, in the context of a comparative study between the UK and the Netherlands. Students will arrange meetings with and visit cultural organisations, institutions and creative professionals in order to understand how the Dutch system works and what differences this makes to the arts that are produced in the Netherlands.
Students will also carry out a placemaking activity at NDSM; an old shipyard which is now a cultural hotspot. This trip is a key element of the module learning outcomes for students, and is embedded as a cultural policy research trip for Arts and Festivals Management level 5 AMAN2202 International Research Visit and Global Arts Management International Cultural Policy AMAN3061 (top-up).
As part of this trip students may have the chance to engage with DMU’s student exchange partner, InHolland University, Amsterdam, who we have had a relationship with for over 20 years. DMU students who are interested can also complete a year abroad at InHolland after completion of their second year of studies and can find more information on the Student on Exchange webpage.
The estimated total cost for Eurostar and accommodation for this trip to Amsterdam is £400. Students will be expected to pay £200, as the £200 DMU Global bursary will be deducted from the total.
