About

Trip description

The primary purpose of the trip is to enhance academic performance by providing a deeper understanding of work culture and social phenomena, fostering the development of international networks, and equipping students with valuable professional skills.

Having international exposure is fundamental for learning about business performance in various contexts. This visit, scheduled during the Easter break, will provide students with a perfect blend of relaxation and reflection, allowing students to be fully immersed in the global activities. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios and reflect on their learning sessions. To maximise the benefits of this trip, several actions will be undertaken, such as a pre-visit orientation and planning discussion, sharing and finalising planned activities, and coordinating with a partner institute (Niels Brock) for local visits.

Students will also be encouraged to deliver sessions or projects at Niels Brock. Additionally, a post-visit session will be organised to gather feedback and comments. The Trip Lead will contribute by delivering guest lectures at the Niels Brock, further enriching the learning experience.

The estimated total cost for travel, accommodation and transfers for this trip to Copenhagen is £500. Students will be expected to pay £300, as the £200 DMU Global bursary will be deducted from the total.

Learning objectives

  • Provide a deeper understanding of work culture and social phenomena,
  • Help students understand the sustainability in practice
  • Foster the development of international networks,
  • Support students with professional skills as well as personal development.

To enhance the learning experience, pre-departure and post-visit activities will be organised. The activities are aligned with the development of key skills and attributes such as cultural intelligence, global business awareness, communication, and self-awareness.

Before the departure, students will be asked to participate in structured briefing sessions, which will focus on business operations in Copenhagen and students’ workplace readiness. The students will also set individual goals to be achieved from the visit. This task will encourage them to set tasks and focus on the intention to visit.
