Eligibility
All DMU undergraduate students are eligible to apply for this opportunity. The maximum number of places is 30, and the minimum number of students required is 15 for the programme to go ahead. Please check our eligibility criteria for further details.
About
Develop news skills and become an engaged global citizen by taking part in the Intercultural Awareness Certificate. This opportunity will enhance your intercultural awareness and knowledge of global issues through a range of activities throughout the academic year. Activities include:

Enhance your understanding of global issues by participating in a number of workshops run by the DMU Global team and Dr Karen Malan including:
Participants are required to attend both workshops
Intercultural Activities
Do something new this year and enhance your skills with one of the following optional activities;
Common Purpose Global Citizenship Course
IAC students will be enrolled onto the three week Global Citizenship Course provided by our partner Common Purpose in November 2021.
All students are required to complete all components of the course.
Reflection and Graduation
Once you have completed the steps above, all participants will be expected to deliver a short presentation about a topic, issue or personal intercultural experience that has formed part of the programme.
Successful students will receive a certificate and will participate in a small graduation ceremony.
Intercultural Awareness Trip
Subject to approval by the University and providing travel is permitted, we hope to offer an overseas trip for Intercultural Awareness Certificate graduates in June 2022. The cost of the flight and accommodation will be covered by DMU Global. If travel is not possible, students will not be due any refund and funding is not transferable to another opportunity.
