About

This trip to Dubai will give students valuable insight into the pharmaceutical landscape in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. This will be facilitated through a visit to Dubai Pharmacy College (the first University to offer Pharmacy in the UAE) and through a joint teaching session.

Not only will you have the opportunity to engage and make relationships with international students studying pharmacy, but you will also be attending DUPHAT; a 3 day Pharmacy conference held at the Dubai World Trade Centre which will provide both networking and employability opportunities for students including international exchange opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to present a poster at the Dubai Pharmaceutical Technologies conference.

Learning objectives

Participating in a DMU Global opportunity can help you develop a range of skills and knowledge that enhance your studies. Through participation in this trip to Dubai we expect that you will:

  • Improve communication and presentation skills by presenting a poster at the DUPHAT conference
  • Gain a broader understanding of the differences between Dubai and the UK
  • Experience interprofessional learning and participate in educational activities at Dubai Pharmacy College
  • Discover and learn more about Middle Eastern culture and the opportunities in Dubai

Before the trip to Dubai, there will be a preparatory session so that students are aware of what is expected of them and also to prepare for their poster presentations. There will also be a post trip debrief to allow the students on the trip to relay the valuable information they have learned to other students.

Cultural activities

Dubai is an indulgent and glamorous multicultural city famed for being a luxury travel destination home to a variety of activities and attractions. Whilst in Dubai, students will have the option to hop on a desert safari, visit the Jumeirah Mosque, pay a visit to the Museum of the Future to discover near-future technologies from the world’s leading innovators or pop by the Dubai Global Village a one-stop destination for some of the best entertainment, shopping, dining, and attractions in the region.

Alternatively, you could shop to your heart’s content at Dubai Mall – the biggest mall in the world, visit the old town to go to authentic souks and take a ride on a traditional water boat across the creek, or take it all in from the dizzy heights of the architectural masterpiece that is the Burj Khalifa.

Visa Information

Due to various external factors and an unprecedented demand for international travel, there are significant delays in visa processing, as well as very limited availability of application appointment slots for some countries and embassies.

We recommend that you take all appropriate steps to secure a visa as soon as practically possible, and to notify DMU Global if you face any issues. It is your responsibility to meet the entry requirements of the country you are travelling to. Failing to do so may mean that you’re liable for the costs incurred to the university (including repayment of the DMU Global bursary).
