How to pay
Payment details: Students will be required to pay £250 as a contribution towards the cost of travel and accommodation (if included) after being offered a place on the trip. The DMU Global bursary will be deducted directly from the overall cost of the booking.
Eligibility
Second and third-year undergraduates and masters level Contour Fashion Design students are eligible for this opportunity. There are 30 places available and a minimum of 15 participants are required for this opportunity to take place. Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying.
About
Trip description
This trip to Paris will introduce students to Salon International de la Lingerie and the Interfilière trade show, a unique international event designed to facilitate lingerie, swimwear, activewear, materials and accessories in sourcing and to fuel creativity. The trade show is an incubator for progressive thinking and an accelerator for trends in the field of textiles, components, luxury goods, fashion and technical fabrics. Interfilière explains what consumers want and anticipates evolutions in growth markets. More than ever before, it’s the reflection of a constantly changing international market that’s driven by innovation and performance.
Paris is the perfect city to host this event as it is undoubtedly a destination home to world-renowned art galleries and a plethora of culturally diverse museums and world heritage sites; including contemporary and baroque architecture. All aspects of this trip to Paris are aimed at challenging design thinking for students’ final projects whilst providing a greater understanding of the sector.
The estimated total cost for Eurostar and accommodation for this trip to Paris is £450. Students will be expected to pay £250, as the £200 DMU Global bursary will be deducted from the total.
Learning Objectives
Participating in a DMU Global opportunity can help you develop knowledge, skills and competencies that enhance your studies. The objectives of this trip to Paris are for students to gain experience of networking with industry professionals. In addition, the visit will act as inspiration and help students source fabrics/ trimmings to support their FMP projects.

This trip will provide Contour Fashion Design students with a great opportunity to engage with industry professionals and experience an event that showcases trends, garments, research and development, sustainability referencing and employment opportunities.
Cultural Activities
Students will also have the opportunity as part of the trip to meander around a variety of museums including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, a museum of the decorative arts and design, located in the west wing of the Louvre, the Musée Jacquemart-André home to the finest private collection of artworks in Paris, and the Musee D’Orsay home to a vast collection of Impressionist art by Degas, Cézanne, Manet, Renoir, and Monet.
There will of course be time to shop and browse some of the finest Haute Couture shops in the world from Dior and Chanel to Louis Vuitton, and Yves Saint Laurent, for serious fashion lovers, trips to The Broken Arm and Tom Greyhound are a must. A trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without taking in the picture-perfect views so of course stop by the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Sacré-Cœur.
