Dresden University of Technology – Germany

Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) is a public research university, the largest higher education institution in the city of Dresden and one of the 10 largest universities in Germany. There are approximately 32,000 students from more than 125 countries study at TU Dresden, across a wide range of disciplines and an academic culture that promotes interdisciplinary study.

Dresden is one of the most visited cities in Germany and is celebrated for it’s arts and the classic architecture of its old town, which has been reconstructed post WWII. Beyond the historical buildings and impressive architecture, the cities location on the river Elbe give it a distinctive, diverse and vibrant culture – which make Dresden a great destination to spend a year abroad!

Programmes of study

DMU’s exchange agreement with TU Dresden allows students enrolled on the following programmes to study abroad:

  • Business and Law – International Relations and International Relations and Politics.

A number of modules will be available in English and further information about the study options can be found here. Exchange students will be required to follow a full programme of study for the academic year based at TU Dresden


Travel & accommodation

  • Travel – the nearest major airport to TU Dresden is Dresden Airport. It is recommended to take a taxi or public transportation to your accommodation.

Visas & insurance

  • Visas – To take part in this exchange you are responsible for ensuring that meet German immigration requirements.
  • Insurance – All students are recommended to purchase travel insurance for the duration of their time in Europe to cover personal possessions and healthcare. UK and EU nationals can apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) which is time-limited to the length of the exchange period.
