About

Students will have the opportunity to engage in an online cultural exchange programme with Juntendo University, Japan. DMU has historic links with Juntendo University, with students from Nursing programmes previously travelling to Tokyo for a Japanese Healthcare experience

Despite travel to Japan not currently possible this online opportunity will allow students to participate in seminars to discuss the experience of care and caring from a global perspective with students and academics at Juntendo university Japan.

During the last 18 months the value of nursing and care cannot be understated. Though delivery of care may differ globally the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that the intrinsic nature of care and the role of the nurse in society has many similarities.

This learning opportunity will involve buddying with students from Juntendo university and attending seminars, participating in moderated Whatsapp groups and peer reviewed presentations and seminars.

Due to time zone differences and timetable restrictions some seminars may take place at weekends, and will be between 8-10am to allow for the Japanese students and staff to attend. All sessions will take place on Zoom and will be organised by Juntendo University.
