Eligibility
All DMU students are eligible to participate in this opportunity, but it would be of particular relevance for students interested in or currently studying the German language. DMU students who will be going to study on exchange in Germany in 2025-26 are also encouraged to apply. There are a maximum of 10 places available. Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying.
Students are recommended to apply for no more than 2 overseas opportunities. Further application submissions will not be considered.
About
Osnabrück University is offering students the chance to take part in the German Language and Culture Summer School. Students will participate in a 3 week programme focused on learning about the German language, history and culture between 12 July and 01 August 2026.
This Summer School offers participants with no prior knowledge or basic knowledge (A1.1 and A1.2) of the German language the opportunity to acquire the foundations of German and to experience more than 1000 years of German culture and civilization in and around the city of Osnabrück, the City of Peace. By the end of the program, students will have mastered basic language skills in German equivalent to level A1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The programme is a cooperation between the Language Center (Sprachenzentrum) and the International Office at Osnabrück University.

Practical information
Students that participate on this summer school will have accommodation arranged by Osnabrück University’s International Office. You will stay in a single room in either a dormitory or a carefully selected homestay.
The programme fee (€1150/ £1000) includes: all tuition, accommodation, cultural activities & excursions, bus pass, welcome package, pick-up from the station and 24/7 assistance for participants. In addition to the programme costs, students will be required to pay for and arrange travel to Osnabrück (approx. £250). This includes a return flight to Amsterdam or Dusseldorf and an onward train (2-3 hours) to the University.
