How to pay
Payment details: Students will be required to pay the pay £ programme fee (including registration fee and accommodation) after being accepted for the summer school. The DMU Global bursary will be paid directly to students.
Carbon Levy

Eligibility
All DMU students are eligible to participate in this opportunity. To qualify for the additional funding for this opportunity students need to meet at least one of these ‘Widening Participation‘ criteria. The maximum number of places on this opportunity is 10. Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying.
Students are recommended to apply for no more than 2 overseas opportunities. Further application submissions will not be considered.
About
DMU in cooperation with its partner, Sookmyung Women’s University are able to offer male and female students the chance to participate in a 4-week language and cultural experience in Seoul, South Korea. The aim of the Summer School is for students to experience Korean language and culture in an exclusive educational environment, with teaching delivered by outstanding faculty members from partner universities and Sookmyung itself.
This 4-week summer school programme is taught in English, and brings together students from across the world. It offers a range of academic courses as well as a varied cultural programme with field trips. Students are expected to choose one course (second course is an extra £800), which will involve a minimum of 3 hours of classes per day. Courses for summer 2025 are listed below:

Practical information
Students that participate on this summer school will stay on campus in single sex accomodation. Students will be required to pay:
- Application fee $100 (£80)
- The tuition fee of $500 (£400) please note that the programme fee is a negotiated fee specifically for DMU students and the advertised fee on the Sookmyung website is different.
- Housing $600 (£484)
- Airport pick up $50 (£40)
- In addition to the programme fee, students will be required to pay for and book flights to Seoul, South Korea (approx. £900).
- The total cost to students is: £1900-2000
Students will receive the following financial support for this opportunity:
- All students: £876 (£400 DMU Global bursary + £476 Turing Scheme funding)
- Students who meet the criteria for ‘widening participation student – £1893 (The above amounts £400+£476 plus an extra £112 Turing Scheme Funding, and a flight cost bursary of £905).
