Trip description

The purpose of the trip is to highlight the opportunities available to students in the digital and technology sector. As part of the trip the group will visit a variety of high-profile tech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area such as LinkedIn and Handshake and get valuable insight into the sector and its future.

LinkedIn are the largest and most well-known global professional networking and career development platform. We will be visiting their amazing San Francisco office which opened in 2016 and have a unique opportunity to hear from their employees about what it takes to build a successful career in digital and tech.

Handshake, also based in Downtown San Francisco is the leading early careers community and platform in the US. Handshake has seen impressive growth with their goal of democratising opportunity and ensuring college students have the support they need to find a great job and kick-off a meaningful career. We will tour their offices, get a feel for what working in tech is like and pick their brains or digital and tech careers, what the future hold for the sector and how to break into the industry.

Further host companies may be added at a later stage.

Students will gain an understanding of both technical and non-technical careers routes available to them and what it takes to be successful in the recruitment process. Students will also get the chance to tour the office and an opportunity to network with tech professionals.
