Eligibility
All DMU students are eligible to participate on this opportunity. Students wishing to apply will need to have an idea for a business which they intend to launch. We would particularly encourage students who ambitions to launch a business in Leicester to apply. Students who are accepted on to the trip will also be required participate in a short series of mandatory start-up business workshops and the trip will form part of the business launch process.
There are a maximum of 25 places available, with a minimum of 15 participants required for this opportunity to take place. Students are recommend to check the eligibility criteria before applying.
About
Trip description
Students on this DMU Global experience led by DMUworks Enterprise staff will visit Dubai for a 5 day experience which will be hosted by DMU Dubai, located at the Dubai International Academic City, which is a branch campus of DMU Leicester.
As part of this trip students will gain insight into and learn more about the entrepreneurial landscape in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. The purpose of the trip is to inspire DMU students by learning from founders, entrepreneurs as well as Dubai-based students and academics all working in the area of entrepreneurship.

Learning objectives
Participating in a DMU Global opportunity can help you develop a range of employability skills and competencies that enhance your studies. Through participation in this Entrepreneurship trip to Dubai we expect that:
Before the trip to Dubai, the DMUworks Enterprise & Entrepreneurship team will host entrepreneurial workshops for trip participants. The aim of the session/s is to help students to develop transferable skills and prepare them to forming their own business ideas.
Cultural activities
Whilst in Dubai, students will have some free time to explore its many sights and attractions. You will have the chance to visit Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (£30), the tallest building in the world with a staggering 160 floors and looms at 828 metres high. Burj Khalifa opened in January 2010 after six years of construction and is probably Dubai’s most iconic landmark and holds plenty of world records. In addition, students will be able to choose venture into the dessert on a cultural excursion as part of the trip.
Travel to UAE is permitted according to the travel rules for England as listed on UK Government website. Students are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 vaccine prior to travel as per the guidance on the FCDO webpage for UAE.
