Costs

£1,895 programme fee and accommodation + £800 estimated return flight costs (total estimated cost of £2695): the estimated cost for programme fee, accommodation and return flights (excluding any support). Students will also be required to pay for: UK and in-country transfers, insurance (£75), equipment (£100), visits, food and drink, visa (if applicable)

DMU Global Bursary: £400

Additional Funding: £1950 (£590 + £1360 flight bursary for Widening Participation students as part of the Turing Scheme)

Booking

Accommodation: Twin rooms in homestay accommodation will be provided for students

Travel: Flights will be booked independently by students (est. £800)

How to pay

Payment details: Students will be required to pay £1895 as part of Think Pacific programme fee and accommodation after being offered a place on the trip. The DMU Global bursary and the Turing Scheme funding will be transferred to students' bank accounts.

Carbon Levy

Student contribution: To offset the carbon emissions from the flight for this trip there is a £5 Carbon Levy for this trip which has been added to the total cost. Information about how this Levy will be used can be found here.

Eligibility

All undergraduate students are eligible to participate on this opportunity. To qualify for the DMU Global and Turing Scheme funding for this opportunity students need to meet at least one of these ‘Widening Participation‘ criteria.

 

After the initial application, students may be invited to a follow-up interview before formally being offered a place on this internship. There are a maximum of 10 places available. Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying.

 

Please note, that no DMU staff will be travelling with students as part of this opportunity, instead participants will be supported by Think Pacific and the host organisations in Bali.

 

Please note, if you have already participated on or been accepted for a DMU Global overseas trip between September 2023 and August 2024 you are not eligible to apply for this opportunity.

 

Students are recommended to apply for no more than 2 overseas opportunities. Further application submissions will not be considered.

About

DMU Global in cooperation with our partner Think Pacific, are offering DMU students the chance to gain 4 weeks of unique work experience in Bali in summer 2024.

Through this exciting opportunity, students will live in a traditional Balinese village with a team of fellow students, whilst supporting Think Pacific’s hand-picked network of Bali-based businesses, social enterprises and charities to develop practical and sustainable solutions to current challenges.


Think Pacific’s Global Team Internship (GTI) has been designed to help students bridge the gap between university and graduate employment in a globalized workforce by combining unique work-experience with cultural immersion and a team-based adventure. It is an opportunity to see Bali through a truly unique lens, and to join a team, experience a traditional Balinese village and work side-by-side local organisations.


The opportunity will include:

  • 1-month team based internship in beautiful Bali, Indonesia
  • Up to 120+ hours of learning, mentoring and global work experience
  • Exploring a new culture by immersing yourself into Balinese life
  • Creating work for up to 3 different local businesses, charities or start ups

  • This project is built upon partnership, collaboration and respect. You aren’t expected to agree with everything, but are expected to respect other peoples differences in their beliefs and attitudes. The experience will challenge your perspectives on the world, and how to do things.
