Second year undergraduate Business & Marketing, Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Communications students as well as Level 7 postgraduate Strategic and Digital Marketing, Advertising and PR Management and Marketing Management students are eligible to participate on this opportunity. There is a maximum of 30 places available, with a minimum of 15 participants required for this opportunity to take place. Students are recommended to check the eligibility criteria before applying.
Students will get the opportunity to experience life on the campus of DMU Dubai, mixing with the resident students and also participating in specific learning activities designed by Ruchi Aggarwal, the Strategic Marketing lecturer at DMU Dubai.
This will directly link into the learning outcomes for their studies on MSc Strategic and Digital Marketing, MSc Advertising and Public Relations Management, MARK2309 Direct and Digital Marketing, and MARK2312/2332 International Marketing (modules available on all three undergraduate Marketing Subject Area programmes). Students will receive a campus tour to view the attractive campus facilities and we will hold an event to enable the visiting students to interact with both UG and PG students at the Dubai campus. Students will be encouraged to produce a blog and social media content about their experiences on the trip but also what they have learnt from an academic perspective.
As part of the trip students will also meet two members of Houbara Communications, a Dubai-based PR agency, who will give a talk on daily life at a marketing agency in the MENA region. The speakers will be Loretta Ahmed, Founder and Managing Director (formerly Managing Director of Grayling UK), and Shehla Momin, Senior Account Executive. Loretta will provide the benefit of her vast experience in working at a senior level in the UK and Dubai, whilst Shehla can provide careers advice for the students and ensure the career path seems accessible. A further industry visit to the Dubai Science or Knowledge Park is being arranged by DMU Dubai (to be confirmed).

Whilst in Dubai, students will have some free time to explore its many sights and attractions. You will have the chance to visit Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (£40), the tallest building in the world with a staggering 160 floors and looms at 828 metres high. There will also be the chance to visit the Palm Jumeirah to see how Dubai re-invented itself as a luxury tourist destination by creating the palm-tree-shaped Jumeirah development.
Students will also be offered the chance to go into the desert for so-called Dune Bashing, plus a traditional dinner and cultural entertainment (£44).
