Founded in 1906, Dongguk University is one of South Korea’s established private universities. Located in Jung-gu at the foot of Namsan, it sits in central Seoul with easy access to many of the city’s cultural and historical landmarks.

Exchange students at Dongguk University are welcomed through a variety of support programs and events. Each student is paired with a local buddy through the Buddy Program, offering 1:1 guidance on campus life, Korean culture, and everyday student needs. Orientation events are held for new international students, introducing them to campus facilities and life in Seoul.
Dongguk also hosts cultural and social activities throughout the semester, organised by the Dongguk International Student Supporters Association (DISSA), giving exchange students the chance to meet peers, participate in festivals, and experience Korean traditions. Travel – The nearest major airports to Donggkuk University are Gimpo Airport or Incheon Airport. From the airports, you can reach campus by subway or bus.
Accommodation – Students can choose to live in on-campus housing or arrange accommodation off-campus independently. If you apply for on-campus housing and are approved, you will be allocated to one of three dormitories: Namsan Residence Hall, Chungmu Residence Hall, or Pildong Residence Hall (female students only). It is not possible to choose your dormitory, as allocations are made automatically based on availability, and not all applicants may receive a room due to limited availability. If allocated a room, it will be available for one semester only, so you will need to arrange accommodation for the second semester.
Insurance – DMU insurance is not sufficient for studying on exchange in South Korea, and students are required to purchase health insurance, and must also enroll in the National Health Insurance Service NHIS.

Travel – Hosei University’s campuses are located in central Tokyo, with the Ichigaya campus in Chiyoda-ku and the Koganei campus in western Tokyo. Insurance – DMU insurance is not sufficient for studying on exchange in Japan. It is mandatory for exchange students to purchase National Health Insurance (Kokumin Kenko Hoken) after arrival, according to the Japanese Government Policy for foreigners who will stay over 90 days. Ball State University offers a vibrant and engaging student experience with more than 400 student organisations across academic, cultural, creative, and service interests. Through the Office of Student Life, students can get involved in clubs, leadership programmes, and campus events listed on the “Be Connected” platform. Each year, the university hosts its Weeks of Welcome , including events such as the Activity Fair and “Rock the Halls,” designed to help new students connect and settle into campus life.
Students in academic disciplines can also join subject-specific societies – from the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) to theatre groups like Alpha Psi Omega and Busted Space. The Multicultural Center also supports organisations that celebrate diversity and promote inclusion across campus.
The university’s Recreation Services offer extensive opportunities for fitness, sport, and outdoor adventure. Shuttle service is available from IND to Ball State campus for arrival and departure. Other airports in the region (without shuttle service to campus) include Fort Wayne (FWA), Cincinnati (CVG), Dayton (DAY), and Chicago O’Hare (ORD).
Accommodation – You will need to apply to live in housing on-campus as an exchange student. Ball State offers on-campus housing in one of their eleven residence halls. Most rooms are doubles with air-conditioning. Bathrooms are private, semi-private, or community-style. Meal plans are required for students living in residence halls. Where can I study in the US via ISEP?
Being a member of ISEP allows DMU students to study at over 100 universities in the US. A diverse range of destinations and types of institutions is available, and the full list of exchange destinations can be accessed via the button below.
At this stage, you can select up to 10 preferred universities, and ISEP will attempt to place you at one of your top four choices.
DMU Global and ISEP will run information sessions to guide you through the process and provide tailored support at each stage.
Fees and support
ISEP operates on a model where you pay DMU housing and meal costs. In return, you are provided with pre-arranged accommodation and a meal plan at your host university, making it broadly comparable to continuing your studies at DMU.
There are a number of fixed fees that will be payable to DMU/ISEP as part of your year abroad. For the 2025-26 academic year, these fees included:

At HUFS, there are hundreds of ways to get involved and make the most out of your university experience. HUFS offers a variety of extra curriculum activities such as the International Film Festival and World Folklore Festival. HUFS also actively supports the activities of approximately 80 student clubs which students are encouraged to participate in a variety of club activities ranging from academics, performance, arts, religion to sports. In addition, the campus has a large fitness centre and nurtures its students overall well-being.

Carleton University is a public comprehensive university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. California State University (CSU), Chico was founded in 1887 and is the second oldest campus in the 23-campus California State University system. The University offers more than 100 undergraduate major and minor options and has almost 18,000 students. Chico is located north of Sacramento and is only a few hours away from Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and the Oregon border. A three-hour drive away from the mountains, the city or the beach.

Francis Marion University (FMU) is a public liberal arts university located six miles east of Florence, South Carolina. The campus includes 100 acres of mixed pine-hardwood and bottomland forests accessed by a series of trails, and is located just an hour’s drive from Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. Approximately 4,000 students are enrolled at FMU, and they welcome exchange students from 18 partner universities in 13 countries.

In the past several decades Florence has become a major medical, financial and industrial centre. Situated at the intersection of two major interstates, Florence is near a number of exciting tourist destinations. Ninety minutes to the east is the Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach, one of the most popular vacation areas in the United States. About two hours south is Charleston, established in 1670 as a major colonial “port towne” and the site of the cannon shots that began the American Civil War. Directly west is Columbia, the capital of South Carolina and the largest city in the state.

Georgia College and State University (GCSU) is a public liberal arts university located in Milledgeville, a charming, traditional southern town less than a two-hour drive from Atlanta. Approximately 7,000 students are enrolled at GCSU.

Serving as Georgia’s state capitol for 64 years, Milledgeville is located less than a two-hour drive from Atlanta, and an easy drive from all the other great cities in the Peach State – Athens, Macon, Columbus, and Savannah.

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is a public liberal arts university in Allendale, Michigan which has a diverse student population of 24,000 representing over 70 different countries. It offers 94 undergraduate degree programmes over eight different colleges which are: Business, Community and Public Services, Education, Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Computing, Health Professions, Nursing and Interdisciplinary Studies.

There are lots of ways to get involved in student life while on exchange at GVSU. There are over 400 student organisations to choose from, focuses of which range from academic, cultural, media and special interests to performing arts, sports and more. The vibrant Campus Life Night, comparable to a society fair at DMU is an annual event, allowing students to learn more about these organisations. The Community Service Learning Center is a great way to participate in programmes that benefit the entire West Michigan Community. Initiatives beneficial particularly to exchange students include Fitt the Mitt.
Grand Valley State University’s Recreation and Wellness offers not only Intramural and Unified sports but also fitness services including personal and group training, nutrition and even massage services! The wellness focuses on health and well-being, both physical and mental health are accounted for with many resources available to support this. Facilities include, 95,000 square feet of recreational space at the Recreation Center, a pool, both with free access for students and much more.

Travel – GVSU suggest that students fly to the Gerald R. Ford Grand Rapids International Airport (GRR) where pick-up is organised by the university on designated arrival dates. It is strongly suggested that you do not attempt to take a train or bus from the Chicago or Detroit airports.

Although GVSU has various housing types available, on-campus apartments are what the university recommends for exchange students. Specifically, Laker Village is recommended as most international students live in this community and it is home to the International House. The HAN’s On: International Welcome Days give you a great start at HAN. Organised by students and staff, it offers loads of useful information, practical tips, and above all, it allows you to have fun and meet other students. This is where global meets social and you learn along the way.
If you want to keep active during your time in the Netherlands, you are welcome to join the various student sports clubs in Arnhem or Nijmegen. Most of the sports venues offer very affordable prices and students from HAN often get a discount. The sports facilities are close by, so you can be even healthier and do as the Dutch – ride there on your bike!

BHF offers a variety of activities for Exchange students throughout the academic year. The Bern University of the Arts (HKB) is a department of Bern University of Applied Sciences and hosts more than 300 cultural events each year. Students can participate in city tours, on campus events or easily explore the region to visit theatres, museums and sporting events. BHF also offers a wide variety of sport activities so students have the opportunity to try something new or further develop their skills whilst studying on exchange.

Travel – Bern Airport has limited flights to the UK, therefore students may want to consider flights to other Swiss cities including Zurich, EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg or Geneva and make the onward journey by train.

Seinan Gakuin University (SGU) is a private humanities-focused university with a long history of international exchange and cooperation. The international exchange program, now managed in the Center for International Education, is one of the oldest such programs in Japan. With a total graduate and undergraduate student population of about 8,500, SGU is consistently ranked as one of the leading privately-funded universities in Western Japan.
Fukuoka city, where Seinan Gakuin is located, is situated on the island of Kyushu, the southwestern most of Japan’s four major islands. It is a city built on commerce, with a population of about 1.6 million, and has developed as the cultural and commercial center of the island. The city enjoys a convenient geographic location with easy access to other Asian nations, only 540 kilometers from Seoul and 870 kilometers from Shanghai, versus 1,100 kilometers to Tokyo.
One of the key attractions of Fukuoka is the way it combines the convenience of the city with a rich natural environment. The public transport network is excellent, with rail, bus and subway services that make it easy to get around in the city. Lush natural surroundings – sea and mountains – are only about 30 minutes away from downtown, and the city is noted nationwide for its delicious foods.

All students on exchange at SGU study a combination of Japanese language courses and elective modules which are taught in English in relation to Japanese culture, history, tradition, business and society.
The Japanese language courses include Comprehensive Japanese, Writing and Reading which are offered at different levels. Students with no prior knowledge of Japanese language can start at beginners level.

The SGU student volunteer group, ‘Seinan Global Society (SGS)’, actively holds social events on campus to offer students opportunities to develop international awareness, learn about different cultures and widen their perspectives. Their events include sports activities, cultural events (Halloween, Christmas, cherry blossom viewing) and social gatherings (International Coffee Hour).
Moreover, 150 clubs are available for students to join. This includes academic and cultural clubs such as Japanese chess (Shogi), Rakugo, Shodo (Calligraphy), and more. Students can also enjoy traditional Japanese sports through the sports clubs such as Kendo, Shorinji-Kempo and Aikido. The coastal location also means students can participate in boating and yachting.

Rennes School of Business has a large range of student organisations available to get involved in. The WELL’COME association organises trips for students to destinations such as Mont St. Michel and Paris, and offers students the chance to participate in sporting events, and themed parties and activities such as a Saint Patrick’s party and International day. Northern Kentucky University (NKU) is a growing metropolitan university of more than 14,000 students served by more than 2,000 faculty and staff on a thriving suburban campus of Highland Heights in Kentucky. It is just seven miles southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio and close to Newport, both vibrant cities where you can explore miles of nature trails and attend music, food and cultural festivals all year long.
The Northern Kentucky Norse are the athletic teams of Northern Kentucky University. They participate in the NCAA I which is the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States.
NKU academic programs are organized into seven colleges including the Haile/US Bank College of Business, Chase College of Law and School of the Arts. They offer over 80 undergraduate majors including Business, Law, Humanities, Media, Theatre, Education and lots more. The International Student Union (ISU) at NKU is the umbrella organization of all international organizations at NKU. All incoming students are automatically considered members of the ISU which is an important dynamic and welcoming presence on the NKU campus and is open to all. W.I.S.H (Welcoming International Students Home) encourages friendships between the NKU student body, the local community and international communities represented by students studying at NKU. This programme is designed to develop friendships by weekly English conversation groups, attending sporting events in the area (national and amateur), horseback riding, shopping, etc. It Is also an opportunity for cultural exchange.
The ISSS also prepare an orientation schedule for incoming students which runs a week before classes begin. This aims to acclimatise students onto campus and make them aware of resources available. It also allows exchange students to get to know each other, learn about US cultural values and practices, meet the ISSS staff and receive other vital information regarding the exchange period.
Student Affairs at NKU provides quality co-curricular programs and services that incoming students can take advantage of. It is home to over 200 student organisations ranging from disciplinary clubs such as the biology club to service organizations, advocacy groups, Greek organizations, sports clubs, faith-based organizations, leadership societies and more. There is also an exciting calendar of events on offer covering a range of areas throughout the year, such as the annual service.
Health and fitness activities are catered for by the Campus Recreation Center which has multiple facilities including 17,000 square feet of weight and fitness space, over 100 pieces of cardio equipment, Bouldering rock climbing wall, racquetball courts, an Aquatic Center, featuring an indoor pool, eight lane 25-yard lap swimming pool, dive well, warm water tub, and active shallow water area, and much more.

Mount Royal University (MRU) was founded in 1910 following a charter by the Alberta provincial government, and today has around 25,000 students enrolled on full and part-time courses at the university. Situated in Calgary, the largest city in Alberta (1.2 million population) students at MRU benefit from it being the sunniest major city in Canada, whilst also being perfect for snow sports with on average, 128cm of snow per year.

Exchange students have full access to MRU Recreation, and there is a large variety of activities available to help you keep active and healthy during your exchange. To access MRU Recreation you will need your MRU Campus Card (ID card) which you will get once your arrive.

KHU, home to over 34,000 students is considered as one of the best universities in South Korea, comprising of 3 campuses; Seoul, Global (Yongin) and Gwangneun.

The Office of International Affairs organises an orientation at the start of the year which acclimatizes students to campus life and gives students the opportunity to get to know each other.
Students can participate in a Global Buddy programme which matches two Korean students with two exchange students in a group of four. The programme promotes cultural exchange through various project and events throughout the year.
Similarly, the International Friendship and Culture Club is a student-led organisation that brings together Korean students and international students to build friendships and foster intercultural awareness. The IFCC operates different programs every week to promote mutual intercultural awareness and provides opportunities for foreign students and our students to become friends. International students can discover lesser-known aspects of Korean culture through cultural experience trips every month. Academically there are also study groups that run to support international students study provide opportunities to learn each other’s culture and language.
Exchange students can also access the Global Zone, a place for international students which includes International satellite TV, computer and internet access, DVD and mini-library for use within the Global Zone, Tutoring rooms for group meetings and various culture programs and events.
There are also many student organizations available which are categorized into seven groups: performance, academic, service, athletics, religions, hobbies, and creative exhibition. Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) is an independent institution for higher education, offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in over 35 different disciplines to a student body of approximately 24,700. Founded in 1889, the university maintains academic standards that rank among the highest of all Japanese universities and colleges. KGU places a large emphasis on producing ‘global citizens’, and in 2014 was selected by the Japanese government as one of 37 out of a total of 800 universities nationwide to receive funding under the Top Global University Project.

KGU offers ‘The Contemporary Japan Program’ which is specially designed for incoming exchange students to Kwansei Gakuin University.
Exchange students are offered a choice between two study tracks that will define the main focus of their time at KGU, the “Japanese Language Track” and the “Modern Japan Track”. Exchange students are also able to select elective courses to learn more about “Contemporary Japan” from a variety of aspects such as language, culture, society, economy, and politics.

At KGU, A mandatory orientation of approximately one week will be held at the beginning of each semester, introducing new students to life in Japan and information on KGU. In addition, Acting as language partners for the JLT exchange student’s first semester, KGU student volunteers will assist exchange students in practicing Japanese conversation. Exchange students who are enrolled in the Japanese Language Track will have a Nihongo Partner.
On-campus there is also the GS Network is an official student group endorsed by CIEC, supporting exchange students during their stay in Japan. They also plan cultural exchange activities for both exchange students and KGU students over the course of the year.
More broadly a range of extra-curricular opportunities are offered and Exchange students are encouraged to join KGU student groups to enrich their study experience in Japan. There are over 150 cultural and sports clubs and “circles” on campus. A circle is a group of students who share a common interest in an activity and gather periodically to explore this interest together. Clubs tend to require more commitment than circles do, and are often the equivalent to university level team sports. Exchange students should be aware that they may not be able to join certain clubs/circles due to the length of their exchange.
Accommodation – Students can apply to live in the on-campus dorm which may be shared or private. Availability is not guaranteed for students applying in 22-23. There is also the option to apply for a homestay with a Japanese family. Dorm rooms cost between £270-380 per month (excluding meals and utilities).

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) is the first private university in Hong Kong. It was founded as Shue Yan College in 1971 and attained its university status in 2006. During the past four decades, the University has built up a solid reputation in the educational community both in Hong Kong and internationally. Ranked at 301-305 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2021, HKSYU is now comprised of 12 academic departments under the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Social Sciences. music and sound production) which hold various activities throughout the year

Travel – the nearest major airport to Hong Kong Shue Yan University is Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). Upon arrival, an HKSYU student (exchange buddy) , will meet students at the airport to take them to their accommodation by the airport express train or bus.
Accommodation – guaranteed on-campus accommodation is available in the undergraduate residence hall. This is designed in a dormitory style and is gender-segregated by floor. Students usually reside in twin (approx. £180 per month) or triple (approx. £150 per month) rooms as single-occupancy rooms are limited. The Students Union, METKA, arranges a range of activities supporting the student experience and well being. METKA arranged activities include excursions, day trips, student groups and guest lectures. Furthermore, students can try out more than 30 different sports, as well as fitness classes that include kick boxing, Latin dance and yoga.

Sookmyung Women’s University (SMU) is a private university located in downtown Seoul, South Korea, within close distance to the city’s major attractions (10 minutes from Seoul Station). The university’s name is derived from Hanja characters of ‘sook’ and ‘myung’, which mean ‘elegant’ and ‘bright’ respectively.
First established in 1906 during the latter stages of the Korean empire, it was Korea’s first national women’s private school. Currently it has a diverse student population of 13,000. The university’s main goal is to foster creative leaders with power of thinking, delivered through rigorous academic training and opportunities for student leadership against the backdrop of the exciting capital city of Seoul.

Each exchange student will be introduced to an SMU buddy. The buddies are there to help students to assimilate into life at SMU such as getting to know the campus life, learning about Korean Culture, getting a registration card etc. There is also a designated Global Lounge on campus to provide a supportive environment for international students. As well as acting as a study space, students get a one-stop service and receive 1:1 help for both academic and campus life. Access to newspapers, magazines, CNN, CCTV, NHK etc is also available.
Exchange students can join to volunteer in English Speaking Spot (ESS) and the Second Language Tutoring program (SLT). This allows students to teach English to SMU students and receive a small scholarship (10,000 Korean won per hour) throughout the semester.
SMU has an active and lively Student Union with a plethora of groups available for students to join, these range from social clubs to arts and everything in between! Travel – The nearest major airports to Sookmyung Women’s University Gimpo Airport or Incheon Airport. An SMU buddy can pick you up at either airport and guide you to your accommodation for 50,000 Korean won (approximately £33).

This has enabled it to maintain its ranking as one of Japan’s top private universities. The word ‘Sophia’ was taken from the Greek language and it means ‘the wisdom which is expressed in ethical activities that further the goals of human existence.’ The wisdom, or ‘Sophia’ is the ultimate treasure which the university aims to give to its students.
Sophia, classed as a pioneer in global education has a student population of up to 15,000 students and welcomes over 1000 international students from 80 countries worldwide. The faculty includes members from more than 20 countries, and most faculty members have overseas study and research experience.
The university is located centrally in Tokyo, a culturally unique city with its mix of traditional and modern elements of Japan. The campus is centrally located within walking distance of places of interest such as the National Diet and the nation’s administrative district, the Imperial Palace and the National Guest House. Shinjuku, one of the most exciting areas in Tokyo, is just a 5 minutes train ride away from Yotsuya, the closest station.

participate in student life at Sophia University by joining an extra-curricular
club that matches their interests. Over 270 student groups available are
categorised in relation to sport, music, theatre, culture, hobbies and more.
Examples of things you can get involved in range from learning about the
Japanese tea ceremony, practicing ice skating, volunteering in a local nursing
home and teaching English to participating in a Drama performance, or joining a

Exchange students can sign up for the student supporter program before arriving at Sophia. The supporter student is usually the first Sophia student exchange students meet before class starts and is there to assist you throughout your time at the university. Annually, an orientation camp and freshman week takes place to allow new and existing students to get to know each other and learn about student organisations.
“Global-Network,” or more
commonly known as “GL-Net” is a student volunteer organization runs
various events for interaction of local and international students at Sophia.
What makes “GL-NET” unique is that it is officially sponsored by the
Center for Global Education and Discovery at Sophia University. Students can
also join SSIC
(Sophia Student Integration Commons) which aims to inspire exchange and
communication between international and Japanese students.

Travel – the nearest major airports to Sophia University are Narita International Airport (1 hour and 15 minutes by train to Yotsuya station costing £20) and Haneda Airport (30 minutes by taxi for £50 or 50 minutes on the train to Yotsuya station for £5). Accommodation – various off-campus accommodation options associated with the university are available. Commuting times vary between 45 – 90 minutes and rent costs are £4000+ for the academic year depending on the option selected. Full details are available here.
Insurance – DMU insurance is not sufficient for studying on exchange in Japan. Students are required to purchase mandatory national health insurance which costs between £10-20 per month as well as personal accident insurance.
Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) is is an Italian private research university founded in 1921. Its main campus is located in Milan, Italy, the location where DMU students can spend a year studying on exchange. UCSC is highly ranked in QS World University Rankings by subject 2022, with 16 disciplines ranked in the top 300 in the world, or higher. The University prides itself on its academic reputation and campus diversity.

Yokohama City University (YCU) is a public university in Yokohama, Japan with approximately 5,000 students. YCU has been ranked 16th amongst the “worlds best small universities” (Times Higher Education, 2017) and is ranked 30th among universities in Japan (Times Higher Education Japan University Rankings 2019).
Founded in 1882, the university is located 18 minutes outside the vibrant and welcoming port city of Yokohama, and less than an hour away from Tokyo via public transport.

Exchange students are welcomed to YCU with an orientation week, introducing new students to life in Japan and providing information of campus life and study. Additionally, new international student are paired with a peer tutor to provide guidance and assistance during their exchange in Japan.
The university prides itself not only on academics, but also on extra-curricular wellbeing and development. Facilities include three athletics fields, tennis courts, a gymnasium with indoor running tracks, a martial arts hall, music studios, a swimming pool, student conference rooms, and much more. With more than 150 sports clubs and societies, exchange students are encouraged to join these activities to enrich their student experience in Japan.

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) is one of the largest educational institutions in Norway, with about 17,000 students. HVL stretches over 5 campuses and 400 kilometers on the western coast of Norway, but specifically DMU students can spend a year on exchange at the Bergen campus.
A unique feature of the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), is that they have made sustainability one of their three strategic priorities. The special UN SDG focused study programme for exchange students is ‘The Norwegian West Coast Educational Initiative on SDGs’ is a cooperation between the Department of Social Science, the Department of Maritime Studies and the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Business Administration and Social Sciences.

At the beginning of each semester HVL organises Orientation days. Over two days they make sure that you get all the necessary information about being a student in Norway and at your campus.
The HVL buddy program organises activities during the Orientation days and throughout the semester. In the buddy program you are divided into groups consisting of both buddies and international students. Your buddies will introduce you to the city and include you in campus life in general. VIA University College is one of Denmark’s largest institutions of higher education based in central Denmark with a total of eight different campuses located in locations such as Aarhus, Horsens and Hostelbro. The institution has approximately 20,000 students and 2,000 staff.
VIA offers a wide range of vocational bachelor courses and more traditional subjects including Education, Engineering, Design, Business and Film. The Danish approach to education at VIA incorporates hands on experience, project based learning and encouraging a culture of open exchange between student and lecturers.

Every year, around 3,500 international students from more than 60 different countries attend VIA on exchange or full degree programmes at one of their eight campuses. International students have the opportunity to be matched with a local student buddy/mentor who can help navigate student life at VIA.

The University of Winnipeg (UW) received its charter in 1967 but its roots date back more than 145 years. The university has a student population nearing 10,000 coming from over 94 countries. UW has a strong campus community and is known for its small class sizes with an estimated student-to-professor ratio of 25:1. It has a strong commitment to the environment and Indigenous inclusion.
Winnipeg is the 7th largest city in Canada and the capital city of the province of Manitoba. It has been ranked in the top three best large Canadian cities to live in and listed as one of the World’s Greatest Places of 2021 by Time Magazine. It has also been named one of the best places to visit by National Geographic Travel.
UWinnipeg has open green spaces, a rich array of arts and cultural activities, fitness facilities, and student groups. The campus’s vibrant downtown location allows students to advance their education while being only steps away from exciting nightlife, galleries, museums, global cuisine and shopping, as well as being close to green spaces, bike paths, and walkways.
More than just city life, the area offers the best of the great outdoors. Find yourself relaxing along miles of white sandy shoreline at Grand Beach, rated one of the best beaches in North America, take in scenic landscapes, enjoy wildlife in Canada’s largest urban forest or get moving on the endless biking and hiking trails.
Being the cultural cradle of Canada, there are many festivals that take place throughout the year in Winnipeg, including the Fringe Festival, International Jazz Festival, Festival du Voyageur and more. The US Border is a short 1.5 hour road trip away.

The UWSA (Student’s Association) have 52 student groups categorised into the following, academic/faculty, humanitarian, recreational and religious/spiritual. There is something for everyone and joining a student group is a great way to get to meet other students. They also organise other events on campus and for occasions such as Asian heritage month and Black History month and provide services such as the Bike Lab, dayplanners, and Soma Café.
The university has a strong Arts and Culture commitment, fostered through its academic departments as well as galleries, performance groups and student organisations. UWinnipeg proudly partners with other arts initiatives and organizations to contribute and enhance the creative and cultural vibrancy of the urban campus and city.
The Duckworth Centre and Axworthy Health & RecPlex house the university recreational programming, health and wellness, fitness and sports. The Bill Wedlake Fitness Centre is also available to access, with cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights, indoor walking/running track, Racquetball/Squash/Handball courts and more. There are a range of activities available for students on a drop-in basis.
The university offers fun events throughout the year including weekly coffee chats, cultural and holiday celebrations, picnics, and sports tournaments. Accommodation – Exchange students can choose between on campus living residence options. McFeetors Hall offers single and double furnished dorms. Balmoral Houses are renovated neighborhood character homes for student living close to campus. This allows students to have a private room and features shared living areas. The University of Alicante is a public university located in Alicante, Spain that was established in 1979. There are approximately 33,000 students enrolled at the University, 2,000 of which are international and exchange students. Students can choose from around 200 courses that are fully taught in English.
University of Alicante is one of Spain’s most modern and innovative universities based in a beautiful campus by the Mediterranean. The campus is ranked among the best in Europe: an area of about one million square metres, sustainable and less than 15 minutes to the city centre and the beaches.

The University of Cyprus (UCY) is the first University to be established in Cyprus and is located in the capital, Nicosia. The University of Cyprus has a number of clubs that you can join, with each of them organising a range of events and activities through the year. Erasmus events are organized in coordination with the International Students Club which was formed by former Erasmus students of the University of Cyprus and ESN Nicosia. These events include parties, lectures, walks through divided Nicosia, and participation in the Limassol Carnival parade. The Sports Centre of the University of Cyprus offers an Athletic Programme for students interested in keeping fit and playing sport.

Insurance – All students are recommended to purchase travel insurance for the duration of their time in Europe to cover personal possessions and healthcare. UK and EU nationals can apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) which is time-limited to the length of the exchange period.
Established in 1972, the University of North Florida (UNF) has grown significantly in size and prominence, now boasting over 16,000 students and 2000 staff. The campus includes a nature preserve, beautiful lakes and nature trails, is located between downtown Jacksonville and the Atlantic Ocean in a bustling section of Jacksonville.

The Office of Campus Life fosters a welcoming and engaging environment for students outside the classroom. This carried out through designing student engagement opportunities within campus programs, personal interactions and intentional collaborations. They create different events for students’ such as Wow Variety Show, Block party, Dinner and Shows and so on.
The Department of Recreation and Wellness which focuses on optimizing the health and well-being for the UNF community, specifically by developing a greater appreciation of healthy living and by fostering physical, emotional and spiritual growth and development. The Student Wellness Complex is the largest fitness centre in northeast Florida that students’ can get access to and Intramural Sports is dedicated to provide students’ an opportunity to participate in athletic and non-athletic recreational activities in a fun and safe environment while promoting physical fitness, social interaction, and campus involvement.
Travel & accommodation
Travel – the nearest major airport to UNF is Jacksonville International Airport. It is recommended to take a taxi to your accommodation, which should cost approximately $40-60.

The University of Regina (U of R) is a comprehensive university that can trace its roots back to the creation of Regina College, established in 1911. The College grew in size and significance becoming a campus of the University of Saskatchewan and, ultimately, an independent degree granting university – the University of Regina – in 1974.
Located in the capital of the province, the university known for its experiential learning offer, has approximately 16,500 students with 19% of students being international. The student to faculty ratio is 22:1. The University of Regina is home to 10 faculties and 25 academic departments which have established reputations for excellence and innovative programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
The University of Regina’s main campus and historic original College Avenue campus, covering 930 acres, provide an attractive study and work environment for both students and faculty. Both the main campus and historic campus are located in Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks in North America. Regina is just minutes from Wascana Lake, and it’s surrounded by trails. Admire nature’s beauty while you get some fresh air, exercise, meditate or even study by the shore. The city has a population of over 250,000 and the city is a perfect blend of big city amenities with a small town charm.
Regina is a beautiful oasis on the prairies with more than 350,000 hand-planted trees. The Queen City has many attractions and events that take place all year round for students to take part in. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is headquartered in Regina. Saskatchewan Science Centre, the Legislative Building, several art galleries, Royal Saskatchewan Museum and many parks and walkways can be found throughout the city. Regina is cold, dry, windy and has a lot of snow in the winter. In the summer Regina boasts hot, dry summers with bright sunshine and little rain. Fall is windy and colorful whereas spring has more rain than any other season in Regina.

The University of Regina offers dozens of events every month, most of which are free. Welcome Week is the biggest student celebration of the year, and Frost Week is the on-campus winter festival. Feel like dancing? Attend the Concert on the Green. You can also share the beauty of First Nations culture at the FNUniv Spring Pow Wow.
For those looking for Sports and Recreation activities, the university athletics teams include Rams (football) and Cougars and intervarsity teams include track & field, volleyball, football, basketball, cross country, hockey, soccer and swimming. UR offers a swimming pool, a fitness centre and intramurals, including more than 11 club sports. Attend fitness classes like Zumba, yoga and spin through UR Fit.
Clubs and academic student societies at the University of Regina operate through the University of Regina Students’ Union (URSU) and the faculties. You can choose from nearly 100 clubs to chase your passions and develop leadership skills. See URSU’s full list of clubs to find one that interests you.
Accommodation – Exchange students can choose between various on-campus housing options. This includes dorms with shared and private washrooms, studios and 2-7 bedroom shared apartments. Where kitchen facilities are unavailable, students are required to purchase a dining plan. While private accommodation is available, students would be responsible for arranging this independently.

Passport to South is a week full of events to help new international students transition from their previous institution to life at the University of South Alabama! New international students are required to participate in an orientation program prior to their first semester at the University. In addition to registering for classes, students will become familiar with campus and all of the resources available at the University of South Alabama. Orientation is fun, too! This is a great opportunity to meet other students and make friends.
South is also home to over 230 student organizations and clubs in which you can meet other students that may share the same interests with you! Jaguar Productions hosts several events from a drive-in movie night, live music, comedy shows, Halloween parties and more throughout the year!
Travel & accommodation
Travel – Once you have confirmation of your student visa and booked your flight to Mobile, you may complete this form to request an airport pick up at the Mobile Regional Airport. If you are arriving at other airports other than the Mobile Regional Airport you will need to make your own arrangements to arrive at your dormitory.
Accommodation – All incoming exchange students are highly encouraged to apply for housing in the campus dormitories. For options, click here. Housing is assigned on a first come, first served basis, so we encourage you to do this as soon as you are moved into the second phase of your exchange application.
